Double chin liposuction removes fat and contours the face, giving you a slim profile while tightening the skin. But how long before we get to see the results?

We can do all the face yoga and facial exercises or even cut down on our calorie intake and go for a regular vigorous workout, but our double chin will still cling on. Why? The double chin, aka the submental fat, is a fatty layer that builds and hangs loose beneath the chin. It is often a combination of some degree of loose skin AND a build-up of the submental fat layer, so losing a double chin through exercise and diet is impossible.

Double chin liposuction removes fat and contours the face, giving you a streamlined facial profile while tightening loose skin around the jowl area.

Double chin lipo: How long does it take?

It is a day surgery procedure, meaning you’ll go home the same day as your surgery. The entire double chin liposuction procedure lasts between 45 minutes and 1 hour.

Double chin lipo: How it works

Double chin liposuction aims to eliminate the excess fat under the chin and tighten the skin in that area, resulting in a slimmer face and a more defined profile.

This comfortable and minimally invasive procedure is typically performed in an accredited MOH-approved Day Surgery (not in clinic)  in Singapore. Patients are placed under twilight sedation, which is a safer alternative to general anaesthesia. Incision sites are strategically created to provide maximum access to the different fat layers, ensuring minimal and well-camouflaged scarring.

Double chin lipo recovery

After undergoing double chin liposuction, patients will receive a post-surgery care pack. The pack will include medications, dressing packs, and a medical-grade facial compression garment.

As part of your recovery process, you must wear the facial compression garment around the clock for 1 to 2 months, even during sleep, to facilitate a smooth recovery. Sleep on your back during the initial recovery period. Following the double chin liposuction, some soreness can be expected.

Any bruising usually resolves within ten to fourteen days. You can expect minimal disruption to your daily activities.

Double chin lipo results

Your skin needs time to retract and conform to your new submental contours, but you should experience positive changes after the surgery. While the initial results of your double chin liposuction are immediately noticeable, the optimal outcome will be achieved in 3 to 6 months as the tissue swelling subsides.

Adhere to the recovery recommendations for the best result!

FAQ on Double chin liposuction results

Does double chin lipo give you a jawline?

Definitely! Double chin liposuction can provide both men and women with a slimmer jawline, resulting in a more defined profile.

Does double chin lipo leave saggy skin?

Double chin liposuction not only permanently removes the submental fat layer beneath the chin but also stimulates collagen production in the treated area. However, if you have significant sagging skin due to rapid weight loss prior to the liposuction procedure, your skin may not retract as much compared to someone with good skin laxity.

What happens if you don't wear your facial compression garment after surgery?

The compression garment is crucial for skin retraction, helping your skin contract and conform to your new facial silhouette. It also aids in reducing swelling faster and promoting a smoother recovery process.

How often should I massage my chin after lipo?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage is an excellent post-care aid that encourages healthy blood flow, decreases fluid retention, and avoids tissue hardening and fluid build-up around the treated area.

The frequency of the massage after your double chin liposuction depends on the doctor's recommendation.
