Throughout his teenage years and into adulthood, this medical condition profoundly impacted his physical and psychological well-being.

Patient's Profile

Mr G is a 32-year-old Indian male, working in the cleaning services industry in Singapore who has been battling gynecomastia since his teens. Throughout his teenage years and into adulthood, this medical condition profoundly impacted his physical and psychological well-being.

Living with gynecomastia affected Mr G's confidence and self-esteem, making him apprehensive and self-conscious in social situations. With little trust in the medical system in his home country, he came to Singapore to work and save up to undergo gynecomastia surgery locally.

Background

Mr G's gynecomastia had been a persistent concern for him since adolescence. He couldn't escape the psychological burden that came with his condition. Speaking about his experience, Mr G shared, "Gynecomastia has been haunting me since I was 15. It's been a constant struggle. I avoided any activities requiring me to remove my top. It affected my confidence and made me feel isolated."

Consultation & Assessment

During the consultation with Dr Puah, it was evident how deeply gynecomastia had impacted Mr G. His self-consciousness was obvious as he looked withdrawn, avoiding eye contact and hunching his back. Dr Puah carefully evaluated Mr G’s clinical condition, and the patient was diagnosed with Grade 4 gynecomastia and Type 4/5 skin, indicating the need for a comprehensive approach to address his issues. Side effects, complications and expected results were clearly explained to the patient. Blood tests were conducted to ensure Mr G was fit for surgery.

Treatment Plan

In 2023, Mr G underwent gynecomastia surgery by Dr Puah at an accredited Day Surgery Center. The surgery went uneventfully. Excess fat and glandular tissues were removed from both the left and right sides of the chest with Dr Puah's proprietary surgical approach, 360° GTD® technique, and the skin was further tightened during the process.

Post-Op Recovery & Results

There is minimal bruising and soreness. Stitches were removed 10 days after the surgery. Mr G was advised to wear the compression vest 24/7 for at least 6 to 8 weeks, which will significantly help his skin retraction. The results were evident post-op and continued to improve as tissue swelling gradually dissipated three months later. The incision scars were healing well. In his words, "I feel liberated like a weight has been lifted off my chest, in more ways than one," says Mr G.
