Face Treatment

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

THE NOSE: A FOCAL POINT OF OUR FACE

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Let’s be honest: your nose shapes your whole look. And when you’re not happy with it, that can affect your confidence.

Surgery used to be the only fix —expensive, intense, and with weeks of downtime.

However, with the advancement in science, non-surgical and effective nose enhancement treatment is now available in the form of PDO Nose Thread lift.

COMMON NOSE SHAPES & CONCERNS IN SINGAPORE

Low or flat nose bridge

Low or flat nose bridge

A low or flat nose bridge tends to have a wider base or broader tip.

Lack of nose definition

Lack of nose definition

This can make the face seem softer and less defined.

Drooping nasal tip

Drooping nasal tip

A drooping tip can create a heavier look or affect facial balance.

Broad Nose Bridge

Broad Nose Bridge

This is seen when the bridge is wide, leading to a broader or rounder tip.

Visible Bumps or Humps

Visible Bumps or Humps

Referred to as 'dorsal humps,' the bumps are caused by irregularities in bone or cartilage.

Wide or Flared Nostrils

Wide or Flared Nostrils

These can impact both breathability and facial aesthetics.

NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY WITH PDO NOSE THREAD LIFT

Nose Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty[5] with PDO Nose Thread Lift involves the use of Polydioxanone threads (PDO)[1, 2, 3] and produces predictable and visible results.

These synthetic non-antigenic and dissolvable threads are not new in the medical industry.

In fact, they have been used as suturing materials in cardiac and pediatric surgeries for over fifty years.

They are also used aesthetically to help retard signs of ageing for many men and women by tightening saggy folds around the:

  • under-eye area
  • cheeks
  • nose-to-mouth lines
  • jawlines
  • jowls

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT PROCESS LIKE?

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty uses absorbable PDO thread to achieve a higher, straighter, andsharper nose bridge. It can also improve the nose tip’s definition without the need for surgery.

Anesthesia

Step I

During the procedure, Dr Ivan Puah will anaesthetise areas of the nose.

Step II

Then, he will carefully place the threads in the nose to heighten the nose bridge and nose tip.

Base of the nose for threadlift

Step III

These threads act as scaffolding structures (contour and shape the nose).

Step IV

It is also a collagen stimulator to encourage new collagen production for a long-lasting nose lifting effect.

BENEFITS OF PDO NOSE THREAD LIFT

PDO Nose Thread lift is safe, effective, and produces immediate, visible results. There is minimal to no downtime, and most patients can resume work or daily activities immediately.

PDO Nose Thread Lift can:

Nose treatments with threadlift

Slim The Nose

Create a slimmer nose by lifting the nose bridge, although it cannot alter the width of the nose[9].

Correct bumps

Correct slightly crooked nose or mild to moderate bump on the nose bridge[9].

Lift Nose Bridge

Enhance nasal profile (higher nose bridge), especially for those with a small nose that needs a build-up[9].

Straighten Bridge

Lift mild to moderate droopy nose tip, and straighten hook-shaped nose[9].

How soon can I see the results?

Results can be seen instantly with satisfaction in patients increased over time (after 6 months)[4] and results lasting  for an average of 12 months.

As the threads are biodegradable, they will gradually disintegrate to be absorbed by the body.

Thanks to the collagen stimulation effect of PDO threads, new collagen is built over time, which helps to firm up the treated area and maintain the nose shape.

Are there any side effects?

Generally, PDO nose thread lift is a safe procedure[6]

While postoperative complications are relatively low[4], you may expect some mild bruising, swelling, and soreness after the treatment, but these will gradually resolve within a few days to a week.

WHO CAN PERFORM PDO NOSE THREAD LIFT IN SINGAPORE?

Treatment such as PDO Nose Thread Lift (using Polydioxanone threads) is marked as a medical device in Singapore under HSA regulation. It can only be prescribed and carried out by registered and trained medical doctors in Singapore.

Moreover, thread lifting needs both skill and a good understanding of facial anatomy to keep patients safe and achieve the desired look. Knowing the anatomy is imperative to reduce complications and maintain the natural function of facial features for the patients[8].

FAQ

How long does non-surgical rhinoplasty take?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty with PDO thread will take around 30 minutes.

How many threads will I require?

The number of threads required will depend on your current nose shape and your objectives.

Besides being used for nose enhancement, what else can PDO thread do?

Even if you are lucky enough to be born with a V-shaped facial structure, you may find the heart shape of your face slowly disappearing over time as your skin starts to sag with age.

Hence, it is time to turn to a skin lift to regain your smooth V-shaped face.
