Trying to find for a way to look younger without having to go under the knife? Ultherapy, a non-invasive facelift, is your best bet!

Dr Ivan Puah, Medical Director at Amaris B. Clinic, shares everything there is to know about this popular treatment.

How does it work?

Collagen is a natural protein that keeps skin firmed, toned and, therefore, youthful. As you get older, collagen loses its ability to withstand gravity's effects. Contrary to popular belief, no published medical studies prove that consuming collagen or applying collage-infused skincare directly helps give you supple skin. Collagen cream or skincare cannot penetrate the skin barrier, and the only way to rejuvenate collagen is by its regrowth.

Ultherapy® uses time-tested ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin naturally and restore skin's elasticity and youthful appearance without surgery, putting the bounce back into the skin and your confidence.

This non-invasive skin lifting treatment that uses high-intensity micro-focused ultrasound with real-time visualisation (MFU-V) can also smooth out lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. Ultherapy® stimulates collagen production in the skin's foundation, resulting in a clinically significant lift of tissue over two to three months, which continues to show results for up to half a year.

Is it painful?

It varies from person to person. There may be some discomfort when the ultrasound energy is delivered, but this is only a temporary sensation – and it’s a positive sign that the collagen-building process has been initiated.

Is it safe?

Ultherapy® is safe and effective, ideal for women and men, with over 1,750,000 treatments performed worldwide. The safety and efficacy of Ultherapy® have been established through published clinical studies

How does it differ from Hifu (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound)?

Many people think that High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound and Ultherapy® are the same treatment, but it is untrue. Unlike HIFU, Ultherapy® has the added benefit of real-time imaging and Micro focused Ultrasound technology. Additionally, HIFU and Ultherapy® use different types of ultrasound beams.

Who is it most suited for?

Ultherapy is an ideal treatment for men and women concerned with sagging skin, jowls, skin laxity, drooping eyelids, lines and wrinkles on a crepey décolletage.

How long does each session last?

Forty-five minutes to an hour.

How soon will I notice the results?

New collagen works to lift the skin from within. The effect continues to improve for three to six months and can last a year or more.
